History of Oil Finding


WORLD
First oil was found by Egypt people in oil seeps in Euphrate river 4000 before century. These oil seeps then were used by people to line Mummy in balsam form 3000 BC. People then used oil as lighter and heater in raw material form on 2nd century. First drilling was done on 1859 in Titusville, Pensylvania, US by Colonel Edwin L. Drake.
INDONESIA
Oil and gas industry history was begun in Indonesia on 1871 when a Deutsch entrepreneur named Jan Reerink drilled in Maja village, Majalengka, West Java. This first drilling was failed then. First oil discovery was in 1883 in Telaga Tiga and Telaga Said oilfiled, near Pangkalan Brandan, North Sumatera. These fields were discovered by A.G.Zeiljker. Then other discoveries then were found in Pangkalan Brandan and Telaga Tunggal. On the same time, there were other discoveries on Ledok oilfield, Cepu, Central Java ; Minyak Hitam oilfield in
Muara Enim, South Sumatera also Riam Kiwa oilfield in Sanga Sanga, Kalimantan. First discovery in Telaga Said by Zeiljker was a foundation in building International Oil Company Shell.
