OGI Olimpiade Geologi Indonesia 2010
Gadjah Mada University (GMU) success in winning 2010 Indonesia Geology Olympiad as First Wineer which held in Padjajaran University, Bandung, April 25th-29th 2010. OGI Team consist of 5 students from Geological Engineering Department : Aryo Rakhmanto, Anwar Sadat, Pradipta Gora Kusuma, Risfan Hasnur, and Rosmelia Cipta. In this competition, each team have to do analysis in four category : Engineering Geology, Mining, Petroleum Geology and Petrography and Palaeontology. In Engineering Geology, team have to make stable slope design for mining purpose on area which have critical slope angle. In Mining Competition, team have to analyse distribution of rare earth element in determining advance exploration area.
In Petrography Competition, each team have to analyse rock thin section of the mapped area along X area. Analysis result provenance information, tectonic setting and reservoir quality based on microscopic analysis in thin section. Palaeontology Competition force each team in doing analysis to microfossils. These fossils then are classified into their species in determining ages and depositional environment. In Petroleum Competition, each team is given contract area. Team have to analyse geology, potential and economic aspect of that area. Log analysis, seismic interpretation, gravity analysis are combined in getting better interpretation, so the assessment can be done well. Finally, all of analysis are combined together to be presented in front of committee from Oil and Gas Company, Indonesian Geological Expert Society (IAGI) and Lecturer form some Universities in Indonesia. Each team have to do risk assessment based on their analysis, and committee test their result in judge room.
Finally, on the final day located on Giri Gahana Golf and Resort, Bandung, GMU won The 2010 Indonesia Geological Olympiad in Fisrt Position. At least, GMU has won four times continuously. Second position is from Padjajaran University and third position is from Bandung Institute of Technology.
